Quick HELP

All chords are made up from notes of it’s Major Scale. Eg. C Major chord is 1-3-5 = C-E-G (1st 3rd and 5th notes)

The chord of C Major 7 is 1-3-5-7 = C-E-G-B

The chord of C Major 9 is 1-3-5-7-9 (9=2) = C-E-G-B-D

NOTE: The 2nd note of any Major Scale can also be a 9th  The 4th note of any Major Scale can also be an 11th And the 6th note of any Major Scale can be a 13th

The guitar neck program above and the slide rules show only the numbers 1 - 7 then they repeat

So now you see why the chord formula for a chord of

C Major 9 is 1-3-5-7-9 (9=2)  is shown like this

The chord formula for a C 9 chord is

1-3-5-b7-9 (9=2) = C-E-G-Bb-D

See Diagrams below

C 9 (C Nine) Chord on Keyboard

C 9 (C Nine) Chord on Guitar

1-3-5-b7-9 (9=2) = C-E-G-Bb-D

Note: The Number 1 is over the note of C on the Bass string above the Keyboard, so the blue numbers show the C Major Scale all over the guitar neck

If you find all of this confusing you should talk to your music teacher
